Principal’s Message

Hello, Tiger Nation!

I hope everyone had a restful summer and had time to relax, unwind, and enjoy life!
My name is Mr. Johndrell Jones, and I am incredibly excited to welcome you to the 2026-2027 school year as the PROUD Principal of Tohopekaliga High School.

From the moment I learned I would have the opportunity to lead TOHO, I knew I was stepping into a school community filled with tremendous pride, talent, and momentum. My goal is to honor what has been built, add value where needed, and work alongside all of our stakeholders, students, staff, and families to take TOHO to the next level. I truly believe that collaboration is an essential component of success.

This year, you will hear me talk a lot about "Leveling Up!"

For us, that means continuing to raise the bar academically, culturally, systematically, and intentionally. We all play a role in this success by challenging ourselves to be better than we were the day before. However, achieving greatness requires commitment, integrity, tenacity, and grit, all qualities that will help take us to the next level.
I am especially excited to get to know our TOHO community. I will be intentional about building positive relationships throughout Tiger Nation and listening with an open mind and open heart to ideas that will help our school continue to rise to the top.

Our theme this year is: “Tiger Nation: Level Up!”

I believe the strongest schools are built when people know they matter, feel seen, and understand that they each have something important to contribute to our school's success.

There is so much to be proud of at TOHO, and I believe there is even more ahead of us. I cannot wait to see what great things we accomplish together.

Finally, I will leave you with one of my favorite quotes:
"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit." -Aristotle
Excellence is embedded in our culture here at TOHO!

We've got this!

Testimonials

student at tohopekaliga

“My first language is Spanish and I am in the Latinos in Action program. It's given me a community and reinforcement to embrace my Latina culture. The teachers and staff here are able to help me embrace that and honestly encourage me in my difficulties. I think that an atmosphere that makes you feel heard and seen is very important.” -Jade, Student

“Tohopekaliga High School did an excellent job of preparing both of my kids for college. The variety of programs offered also gave them opportunities to explore interests in areas that they had never tried before. The school has a positive vibe that you can feel on campus and the staff took a genuine interest in the development and well-being of my children for which I am grateful.” -Phillip Lowry, Parent

“I love Toho because it sets me up for success. I want to major in computer science, and then I want to be a civil rights attorney. I'm in the CTE program, so it really helps me get a taste of what that's going to look like later on down my path.” -Laila, Student

“I'm in marching band, concert band, and technical theater. I program the lights. The arts courses are more engaging because you can do something that you're passionate about during the school day, every day, five days a week. Music and arts actually help you improve academically.” -Amanda, Student
